This is the newsletter for Sunday 29th January 2012.

This weekend we celebrate Education Sunday. We pray for all those connected and involved in Catholic Education. In Torquay we are privileged to have four schools that proclaim the values of the Gospel to our young people. So we remember in our prayers all those associated with Queensway School, Priory School, St Cuthbert Mayne and Stoodley Knowle.

This Sunday – Polish Mass in this church, 4.00 p.m. with confessions at 3.30 p.m. All welcome.

Prayer Opportunities in the Parish – A small group met & these suggestions were made:- A Rosary Group, DVD talks, Evening prayer & Exposition, Day of Reflection, Taize Evenings. A Rosary group will meet on Tuesday mornings after Mass.

Assumption Fundraising Organization presents Lenten drama production ‘The Message of Easter’, 25th /26th/27th March in this church. Next rehearsal 7th February 7.00 pm in the church. Any offers of backstage help most welcome. Contact Susanne on 606256 or Julia on 875151.

Christians Together in Torquay – Wednesday 8th February 7.15 pm for 7.30 pm in our parish rooms. Bishop Michael will talk about his work with the church in North India. Everyone very welcome.

RCIA – Friday 10th February 2012, 7.00 pm in the parish rooms.

First Holy Communion 2012 – Meeting for children and parents Thursday 16-02-2012 6.00p.m. in the parish rooms.

A Marriage Preparation Day for couples intending to marry will be held on Saturday 3rd March 2012, in the Community Room at Queensway Primary School, Torquay. The course is delivered by Marriage Care and concentrates on three main areas – communication, commitment and conflict resolution. Marriage Care is looking for a volunteer to lead our local centre, Marriage Care South West. Some management/HR experience would be desirable, together with promoting and extending the services we offer i.e. Relationship counselling and marriage preparation courses throughout Devon and Cornwall. Rev Louis Rieunier, a member of our parish community, who is training for the priesthood, will be ordained priest on Tuesday 3rd July 2012 at Plymouth Cathedral and celebrate his first Mass here on Wednesday 4th July. Further details later.

International Demonstration & Food Tasting – A big THANK YOU To Franco, Caroline & Nina for their wonderful Italian demonstration & lunch last week. Everyone had a very enjoyable lunchtime.
